Training Course for Auditors of Verification/Validation of Environmental Product Declarations

The growing attention on environmental sustainability and performance of products makes the EPDs as communication tools increasingly strategic. In this context, the EPD auditor plays a central role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of declared results. The course explores the verification and validation process according to ISO 17029 and related standards, providing a practical explanation of how to conduct audits, manage technical documentation, and apply the relevant operating instructions. Through practical exercises and simulations, participants will familiarize themselves with the procedures and tools used by ICMQ, with a particular focus on EPDItaly Program and the International EPD System (IES). The course thus provides a comprehensive and practical overview of EPD verification and validation activities.

Obiettivi del corso

The training course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out verification and validation activities of EPDs in compliance with the international standards ISO 17029, ISO 14065 and ISO 14025. Through theoretical lessons, practical exercises and simulations, participants will learn to correctly apply the EPD audit procedures.

The course is mainly intended for technicians, consultants, and professionals with experience on the fields of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and EPD, as part of their qualification process as third-party EPD auditors. This course is the first step in the qualification process for ICMQ auditor.

The knowledge of related standards (ISO 14040, ISO 14044, ISO 14025, EN 15804, EN 50693) is strongly recommended, as the course does not provide training on methodological issues of LCA and EPD.

A chi si rivolge

The training course is targeted to: Environmental consultants and LCA Practitioners with EPD experience; Auditors of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) or Energy Management Systems (ISO 50001) who wish to extend their skills to EPD verification/validation; Technicians from certification bodies or verification bodies, interested in qualifying as third-party EPD auditors; Managers of environmental management systems or product sustainability, involved in the collection and validation of LCA data and the preparation of EPDs; Project and Product Managers of organizations developing products with Type III environmental declarations.
